The tower consists of five different bases: square, rectangular, octagonal, circular and spherical. the five represents the human microcosm, it is man’s desire to draw close to God. The square indicates the man anchored to the earth and encourages him to stop to reflect. The rectangle expresses the desire to establish a relationship between Earth and Heaven. The octagon is a symbol of resurrection, it is the mediation between Earth and Heaven. The dome represents the celestial vault. The sphere is perfection but placed on the circle which in turn rests on an octagonal base, represents the Incarnation of the divine and human nature of the One who will act as a bridge to bring us closer to the great architect, that is God.
